Following strong runner-up performances in League Series 1 and 2 over previous weeks, Minnesota United’s eMLS representative Eshan Zakeri, better known as “LAMPS”, has earned himself not only an automatic spot in the league’s upcoming World Cup, but he enters as the No. 1 overall seed.

Overall, the 19-year old finished the two qualifying tournaments with a combined 19-3-3 record, with two of those losses coming in each of the Finals, falling to Atlanta United’s Paulo Neto on both occasions.

The 2023 eMLS Cup Championship knockout stage takes place Sunday, March 12 at Austin’s South-by-Southwest (SXSW) festival.

The top two finishers within the tournament get a direct bid to the EA Sports FIFA 23 Global Series Playoffs, while third and fourth place will enter the Global Series “play-ins”. All top four finishers from eMLS Cup will put themselves in great position to compete in this summer’s FIFAe World Cup.
