On Saturday, Minnesota United FC made their 2023 debut at Allianz Field in St. Paul with an open training session for both fans and media.
Later in the day, media were treated to the 2023 Allianz Field food tasting. The new additions to menus across the concourse were available for tasting.
Here’s my review of the #FootyScran we were able to get a sneak peak of. Keep in mind, I’m a pretty picky eater, so if I like something, you’re almost guaranteed to enjoy it as well!
5.) Freehouse Roto Chicken Sandwich

Rotisserie Chicken, Basil Aioli, Arugula, Monterey Jack Cheese on Demi Baguette Stadium Location: Freehouse Portable
What a sandwich. The baguette was great, the chicken was cooked well and the aioli had great flavor. If I could add one thing to this sandwich it would be some sort of stone ground, spicy or deli mustard.

4.) Bibigo Chicken & Cilantro Mini Wontons

Hear me out: if you like Cilantro, these are going to be your thing. It was a bit overpowering for me, but the taste was definitely there. Solid stuff.

3.) Cub Hatch Chili Cheddar Meatball on a Skewer
Fresh Pork Mixed with Jalapenos and New Mexico Hatch Chiles and Cheddar Cheese
Stadium Location: Cub Grill
Super solid food choice, however, I’m a baby with heat. I tried these and it was on the border of too hot for me. However, the flavor was immaculate. I can imagine these meatballs on a bun/sub and it would be a great sandwich.

2.) Kramarczuk’s Smoked Italian and Andouille Sausages
Smoked Italian Sausage with fennel and Red Pepper

We’re combining two in one here, and both are mouth-watering. The Italian sausage was really good, while the Andouille was really, really good. Both had great flavor, were cooked perfectly and the bun was grilled to perfection too. I wouldn’t ask for much to be changed here. Really solid additions to the concourse.

1.) Bibigo Sweet & Spicy Crunchy Chicken with Rice
Korean Style Crunchy Chicken with Sweet & Spicy Sauce on top of White Rice

This is my winner on the day. Perfect balance of sweet and spicy with an immaculate crunch. My one wish, however, is that it would be served with an additional sauce of sorts for the rice. Maybe a little soy sauce packet or some sweet and sour… etc.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of these, if I’m being honest. They looked delicious, the presentation was top stuff really. The flavor just didn’t hit for me, though.

Grand Casino Pulled Pork Sandwich

House-smoked Pulled Pork, Coleslaw, Jim Beam BBQ Sauce, Toasted Bun
Stadium Location: Brew Hall Kitchen
The Bun: It looked immaculate, it was toasted to a golden brown and was as shiny as could be under the heat lamp. We didn’t have the option of BBQ sauce with our pork, and I think that hindered the overall quality of taste. The pork was also a bit pink for my liking.
