Well, this is certainly not the news Minnesota United fans were hoping to start the day with.

Loons’ midfielder Kervin Arriaga has suffered a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee and is set to undergo surgery in the coming days, meaning his 2023 season is over.

Nagging knocks caused the Honduran to suffer a drop in form late last season after becoming one of the team’s most crucial pieces shortly after his signing ahead of the 2022 campaign.

This year, Arriaga has made 10 starts and 16 total appearances.

This comes after Minnesota has already lost impact Finnish attacker Robin Lod for the season to the same injury.

At the same time, there are rumors swirling that the Loons are set to announce a new signing following yesterday’s transfer deadline.
